Q. Is air travel safe for my new puppy?
A. The transportation of pets is labeled "priority parcel" with extra handling guidelines and regulations for puppies. The United States Dept of Agriculture (USDA) oversees the shipping of puppies with strict guidelines in order to ensure puppy’s safety, health, and well-being. We place soft and absorbent bedding in the travel crate for comfort during your puppy’s journey. Each puppy is transported with water and food available during transit. The puppy will travel inside a pressurized, climate-controlled portion of the airplane.
Q. What effect does weather play on scheduling my puppy’s flight?
A. Although puppies travel comfortably in a climate-controlled area of the plane, which is both heated and cooled as necessary, weather conditions can pose a challenge for booking flights. The main concern for puppy’s welfare is regarding the transportation of puppy from the terminal to the plane. Temps must remain between 35 to 85 to ensure puppy’s safety and comfort. Some dogs, such as snub-nose bulldogs, shih tzus and pugs, adhere to even stricter guidelines for transportation. During hot weather, we request early morning departures. During cold weather, later flights will be chosen. However, because there are limited flight times during extreme temperatures, it’s more difficult to make flight arrangements, and the delivery date may be delayed.

Q. How much will my puppy weigh full grown?
A. Regarding weight, there's no guarantee on estimating the weight of the puppy. There are two suggested methods to try to determine a possible mature weight. This method works best with toy breeds. First, multiply the weight at 8 weeks x 3. For example, if your puppy is 2 lbs at 8 weeks, the mature weight could be 6 lbs. Secondly, look at the weight of the parents; the pup's weight should not exceed the parents' weight. For example, if your puppy's parents weigh 70 and 60, the puppy should weigh between 60 and 70. There are always exceptions because of genetics, diet, and general health.
